When the university began firing people in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, my department immediately fired the two Tech alumni. One good thing is that during the school year they are very flexible with hours, but its breaks that are the worst in terms of working long hours. I was able to have flexible hours and work when was best for me. There still should be some more improvements on Canvas and the new uploaded videos since it can be frustrating to navigate around. My com theory class for electrical engineering was run by the laziest professor on earth. How would you describe the pace of work at Michigan Technological University? I have seen my fellow doctoral students having fun most of the time still get away with their degrees with bare minimum research. The location in a small town on the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan is ideal. This means you have very little access to co ops, internships, and networking. The Michigan Technological University Academic calendar runs on a semester basis. The community was good. One more thing you will like here is the SNOW! Long but helpful training with free lunch. Little to no career advancement. Also, this school does the traditional senior design project in your senior year, but also has Enterprise programs and some (not enough) of undergrad research opportunities to get some lab experience. None of these matter to me now, still I feel that the department needs to be fairer in treating its students based on merit, not based on who they like them most because they organize some pizza party (so-called meet and greet). Michigan Tech boasts endlessly about a degree from Tech being a golden passport to an excellent career. The boss is very kind and works around your schedule to allow for you to attend the schooling successfully. As well, the professors were understanding and adapted quickly to the new change of teaching. What is a typical day like for you at Michigan Technological University? It was challenging but they still offered online learning centers and support programs for free. Tech operates ski hill, golf course and even bike trails. The resources that are appointed to the students while attending are incredible, they want to see you succeed in college and your future. One good thing about the electrical engineering program is having a lab for most core classes, giving you a technical advantage over other grads. Michigan Tech is one of the top engineering schools in USA, the university offers a distinguished undergraduate and graduate engineering programs. For the first few months, the job was great.
